Intern
Chuyang Zhang is an industrial designer holding a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta and a master’s in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute. Based in Brooklyn, his creative practice is rooted in material-led research, particularly exploring natural dyes, raw denim, and indigo techniques. With cultural origins in China and Canada, Chuyang reimagines traditional textile practices through a contemporary lens, bridging heritage craft with modern design innovation.
Chuyang thrives on turning ideas into physical form, whether through pattern-making, stitching, prototyping, or collaborating with manufacturing partners to bring designs to market. His approach emphasizes thoughtful craftsmanship and meaningful context, blending creativity with hands-on experimentation.
At Interwoven Design Group, Chuyang plays a hands-on role in wearable tech and soft goods projects, contributing to stitching, pattern creation, prototyping, 3D printing, and general studio support. His work helps ensure smooth project flow and informed design development
